About the Assignment

You will join a permanent DevOps team responsible for the management and further development of one of the most visible and security-sensitive digital platforms in the Netherlands.

The platform runs in a cloud-native, containerized environment, with a Java microservices backend, a largely headless frontend, and a CMS-driven architecture. Quality, stability, and security are central to everything the team delivers.

You will work according to the DevOps principle:
“You build it, you run it, you own it.”

Practical Information

• Start date: 1 June 2026

  • Limited availability in March for preparation and team interviews

• Location: Utrecht (hybrid)

• Team: Permanent DevOps team of 7 FTE

Your Role

As a Senior Test Engineer / Test Automation Engineer, you are the point of contact for quality and testing within the DevOps team.

You will:

• Define and monitor the test strategy and Definition of Done

• Actively drive shift-left quality

• Contribute to reducing regression, incidents, and technical debt

• Collaborate closely with developers, DevOps engineers, and platform teams

• Work as a T-shaped team member, with testing fully embedded in the team process

• Participate in 24/7 on-call rotations (shared within the team)

Required Knowledge & Experience

• Senior-level experience as a tester within Agile / DevOps teams

• Extensive experience with test automation in CI/CD environments

• Strong experience with test strategy and test management

• BDD experience, e.g.:

  • Cucumber (Java)

  • Robot Framework

• API testing (Postman or similar tools)

• UI test automation using:

  • Playwright and/or Selenium

• Proven experience testing CMS-driven environments, preferably:

  • CMS-driven websites

  • Headless CMS architectures

  • Content, workflow, and publishing processes

• Experience with security testing, including:

  • SAST / DAST

  • Vulnerability scanning

  • Secure software development

  • DevSecOps (knowledge and/or experience)

• Experience integrating tests into CI/CD pipelines

• Familiarity with containerized environments (Kubernetes context)

• Experience with external-facing web applications (strong plus)

• ISTQB and/or TMAP certification

Hard Requirements (Mandatory)

• Fluent Dutch, spoken and written

• Dutch passport required

• Willingness to undergo security screening

• No self-employed / freelancers
